The House at Riverton is beautifully written, completely absorbing, and one of my new favourites. I picked it up on a whim from the gite I was staying at in France recently. My friend and step-mum had both read it and thoroughly recommended it.
It is immediately captivating. Grace is very real and one of those characters you feel agony for if you think she is doing the wrong thing, toe curling tense moments, and who, ultimately, you care about. Since The House at Riverton is told from Grace's point of view, we only witness scenes as she sees them, or learn things she is told, so there are details that are kept unknown and mysterious.
The book has been very well researched and is believable. I loved this book, the characters are developed, likeable (mostly) and all the strings are tied together beautifully in the end, leaving a very satisfactory feeling in me as I put the book down. I wept for Grace.

I can't recommend it enough.
